Motorcycle Learner Permit Requirement

For Massachusetts Resident:
You must obtain motorcycle learner permit (Class M Permit) to obtain motorcycle license (Class M License) in Massachusetts.

You can obtain motorcycle learner permit BEFORE taking our MSF Basic RiderCourse OR within 90 days after completing our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

Many students take and pass our MSF Basic RiderCourse before getting their motorcycle learner permit. You'll learn to ride before tackling the paperwork, but you won't be able to get your motorcycle license immediately after the class.

However, scheduling an appointment with the Massachusetts RMV can take time, and you may need to add yourself to the waiting list for an available test time to get your motorcycle learner permit.

For Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine Resident:
You do not need to have motorcycle learner permit to obtain motorcycle license if you compete and pass our MSF Basic RiderCourse.
